A small but elite team.
A company that values personal growth.
This is my second year at Global Vision.
I joined the company because I wanted to work in an environment that encourages challenges.
For me, this meant a place where I could use English in a business setting.
Previously, I worked as a domestic sales representative for a luxury goods and seasoning manufacturer with 100 employees.
In contrast, Global Vision Inc. is an import trading company with a small yet elite team.
My goal was to challenge myself to become part of that elite team.
After joining, I quickly realized that in this small but skilled team, everyone possesses high-level expertise. To succeed, it’s essential to continuously gain knowledge and experience.
If you are fluent in English, your opportunities here expand significantly. You gain greater control over your work, and the scope of your responsibilities increases.
For me, this aligns perfectly with my desire for rewarding, challenging work.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of my role is seeing the direct reactions of our customers and feeling the tangible impact of my contributions to the company. Each day, I find myself deeply satisfied with the progress I make.
Because we are a small, elite company, my senior colleagues are unique and fascinating individuals and yes, they make work more enjoyable (lol).
I’m still a beginner when it comes to some daily tasks and improving my English, but with enough motivation, there’s no problem!
Global Vision Inc. is a company that genuinely values and supports your personal growth.
Let’s grow together—and teach me some English along the way (lol).
One of the best aspects of working here is the clearly defined work-life balance. The environment allows you to enjoy private time while excelling at work, making it easy to maintain a balanced and fulfilling life.
That’s just another reason why Global Vision Inc. is such a great place to work!
My Goal: To Develop Interpersonal Skills
That Make People Think, “I Want to Buy from You.”
In my previous role, I worked in sales for a food ingredient manufacturer, engaging with both domestic and international clients.
My focus there was on the upstream side of the supply chain, dealing closer to raw materials. However, I wanted to transition downstream, working closer to consumers—so I joined Global Vision Inc.
Currently, I’m part of a team that promotes sales of drink ingredients sourced from New Zealand. My role involves making product proposals to food service customers.
One of the most rewarding moments in my job is when a drink or dessert idea, born from brainstorming sessions with customers, wins approval in a tough internal presentation and eventually gets released as a new menu item.
Of course, there are challenges—such as navigating cultural differences when working with overseas manufacturers or dealing with the frustration of proposals not being accepted. But it’s the accumulation of small victories and happy moments that motivates me to keep pushing forward.
My current goal is to grow into a salesperson who can identify and convey the true value of products that customers want. Looking further ahead, I want to develop the kind of interpersonal skills that make customers think, “I want to receive proposals from you and buy from you.”
I want to work with curious people.
Even when proposing a product, the starting point is understanding: What kind of product is it? What processes were involved in creating it?
It’s essential to ask questions and explore:
What are the “interesting topics,” “popular shops,” and “delicious sweets” trending in the market?
What’s happening overseas?
What makes Japan’s offerings special?
Why was that yakiniku sauce I tried yesterday so much better than others?
People who are curious about a wide variety of things and willing to dig deeper will always find a way to communicate something that resonates with customers.
Specialized knowledge can always be learned later! But curiosity and the ability to connect with others are invaluable from the start.
[ A Day in My Life at Global Vision ]
7:30 | Thanks to flextime, I arrive at work an hour and a half early! I take advantage of the quiet morning hours when my mind is sharp to focus on paperwork and planning. |
---|---|
9:00 | Team morning meeting. It’s more of a casual morning chat where we share interesting observations and discuss any challenges we’re facing. |
11:00 | Business meeting. We’re proposing a seasonal drink menu to a café chain. While brainstorming ideas with the client, we also gather inspiration for next season’s proposals. |
12:30 | Lunch at a popular restaurant near the business meeting! It’s something I look forward to and motivates me to work hard all morning. |
14:00 | Back to the office. I catch up on emails received in the morning and hold a quick team meeting to align on the day’s tasks. |
14:30 | Online meeting with a manufacturer in New Zealand. By consciously engaging in English, I continue to train and sharpen my language skills. |
16:30 | Since I started early, I can leave early thanks to flextime. I spend the evening shopping, relaxing with a drink, and preparing for the next day. |
Every Day Brings New Discoveries and Rewarding Work
Curiosity and a learning mindset are key to growth.
After gaining experience at several companies, I decided to take on a new challenge and joined here.
Moving into sales at an import trading company was a big shift—it was an entirely different industry and job type from what I had done before. Naturally, I felt nervous at first. But as I immersed myself in the daily work, I found the livestock and food industry to be incredibly fascinating. Every day brought new learning opportunities, making the job both fun and rewarding.
One thing that made the transition smoother was the chance to gain hands-on experience during my first few months before officially becoming a full-time employee. This practical approach allowed me to build confidence, and now, 15 years later, I’m proud to still be part of this team.
My primary role is to propose products that meet the diverse needs of customers across various industries and oversee the process until the products are delivered. Some of the items we handle are already imported into Japan, while others require us to source and assemble products from local manufacturers around the world.
One of the key advantages of working at a small trading company is its flexibility. While there are challenges—such as schedule delays and unexpected incidents—there’s no greater joy than seeing a product that perfectly aligns with a customer’s vision come to life. It’s especially rewarding when these products are transformed into exceptional menu items that bring satisfaction to diners.
A moment that stands out for me is when Japanese chefs recognized the quality of high-grade meat raised with care and passion by overseas producers. Watching those chefs use it to craft incredible dishes made me proud to serve as a bridge between the dedication of the producers and the creativity of the chefs.
I’ve always had a deep love for food. During my time studying abroad, I became fascinated by local cuisines from around the world, and this passion continues to influence me today. When I discuss dishes with customers, I draw on my own experiences, which adds a personal and rewarding dimension to my work.
If You’re Unsure, Take the Leap.
If you’re hesitant about stepping into something new, my advice is simple: jump in and experience it for yourself. Even if you’re new to the industry, like I once was, you’ll find this job enjoyable and fulfilling as long as you stay curious and maintain a willingness to learn.
